Marc Savard is a professional ice hockey center for the Boston Bruins. He is a 32-year old player from Canada.
Before he played for the Boston Bruins, which is part of the National Hockey League (NHL), he was playing for the New York Rangers.
Just today, in Pittsburgh, Marc Savard had been injured and was taken away from the Mellon Arena Ice on a stretcher late. Matt Cooke, a Penguin's forward, delivered the cheap-shot injury to his Marc's head, which knocked him unconscious.
There was no penalty called out during the game, but Matt Cooke possibly faces suspension from the NHL.
